Hanson Logistics Introduces Velocities Multi-Vendor Consolidation Program
St. Joseph, MI - - Hanson Logistics, a leading third-party logistics (3PL) provider of temperature-controlled supply chain services, introduces Velocities - a fast growing multi-vendor consolidation program designed for small and mid-sized consumer product good (CPG) companies.
Velocities enables CPG companies to meet the growing demand from major retailers and food service companies for purchase order consolidation smaller orders delivered with greater frequency. The trend has created a challenging environment for vendors whose order volumes are less-than-truckload (LTL).
Velocities combines traditional LTL shipments from multiple vendors into a single, consolidated truckload. CPG companies benefit by improving fulfillment strategies, streamlining inventory in the supply chain, and reducing or even eliminating traditional, higher-cost LTL shipments. The program is available at several Hanson distribution centers, strategically located east of Chicago congestion, and supported by the reliable Hanson truck fleet.
Retailers and food service distributors are looking for more cost-effective solutions throughout their supply chain, with a growing emphasis on purchase order consolidation, said Andy Janson, Hanson Logistics VP of Business Development. This is particularly challenging for mid-tier foods manufacturers, whose margins can be quickly eroded by higher volume orders shipped LTL. Velocities is designed to give these companies the benefit of collaboration at a point close to the final destination, sharing final mile costs with other vendors.
